Since 2003 Lee has taught fiction and creative non-fiction workshops and courses in community organisations, medical associations, libraries, TAFEs, writers’ festivals and writing centres. (For example, Novel writing at the Centre of Adult Education and The Year of Creative Nonfiction at Writers Victoria.) Lee has also worked as a writing teacher with homeless people and with people with mental illnesses through Prahran Mission and Roomers.
Some of her most popular writing workshops are:
- Mastering emotional honesty
- Developing writer’s voice
- Writing as layering: the art of revision
- Writing the body
- Writing place
- Write what makes you blush
- Creating compelling characters
- Self in creative nonfiction
Over the years, I’ve been also fortunate to receive generous feedback from my students, such as this one from Jackie Bailey, the author of The Eulogy in Kill Your Darlings: “The absolute 100 per cent best workshop I did was at Writing NSW led by Lee Kofman on creative non-fiction. She had so much practical wisdom to share. I have some of her advice blu-tacked to my wall above my desk…”
